Léargas, as the national agency for EU Language initiatives, has materials available (posters, stickers, lanyards and pens) which can be used at a local level to promote the day.

Competition In addition Léargas will be holding a competition to mark the European Day of Languages. Organisations are invited to create and submit a comedy film/video clip which highlights the value of language development and diversity. This can be done in conjunction with your activities planned for the 26th September.
The deadline for submission is Oct 11th.
Attached is a flyer provided by the EU which can be used to promote the day and your events.
The Post-Primary Languages Initiative in collaboration with the Consejería de Educación is delighted to announce the winners of the competition for two scholarships for students and one for their teacher to study in Spain sponsored by the Junta de Castilla y León. The scholarships cover the cost of flights, home-stays, and language school for one week in Castilla y León during the summer of 2013 and were awarded to Joel Nixon and Stefani Dmitrova and their teacher Olan Geaney from Ashton Comprehensive in Cork. CONGRATULATIONS!
The Cultural Service of the Embassy of France and the Alliance Française in Dublin are delighted to offer the Francophone Online Quiz for primary (grades 5th and 6th) and secondary (1st and 2nd years) schools. The theme of the contest is Discover Francophonie and test your skills in French language
The quiz will be online only on February 27th from 9.30 am to 4 pm.
An award ceremony and a price giving will be organized for the winners at the Irish Film Institute Dublin on March 20th. The winning teams will be invited for a special screening and a luncheon with French pastries.

Message in a Bottle 2012 Competition
Are you multilingual? Do you think that 'English isn't enough'? How much do languages matter? Are languages fun? Are you passionate about languages? How can you spread this message?
EUCA (European university college association) are calling onto all creative types to send them a video, photograph, poem or essay to spread this 'languages matter' message.
Prize: an i-Pad for the best entry in each category.

This Facebook App is the latest competition from PPLI designed to increase awareness of the value of learning foreign languages. All you have to do is like us on Facebook and then play the game which involves watching some short video clips and answering some simple questions. You can increase your score by inviting your friends to play. The more you play the higher your score will be so make sure and spread the word as much and as often as you can!
