Minato, a place to learn and meet

JF Japanese e-Learning Minato is a Japanese language learning platform provided by the Japan Foundation. Minato means "port". Here at Minato, a place to learn and meet other like-minded people, we invite you to expand your understanding and knowledge of Japan, Japanese people, and the Japanese language.

On Minato, you'll find all sorts of Japanese online courses. With Minato's online Japanese courses you can start learning Japanese wherever you are, whenever you want to. Have you given up on learning because you can't find a class nearby? Are you too busy to commute? Just want to try it out but are a bit nervous? Well this is the place for you. Choose the level, course type, study category, and language of explanation that suits you and you're set to go.

Application forms for Saturday Japanese in Cork and Dublin are now open

For:

  • Students who are interested in Japanese
  • Students who are very serious about wanting to do Japanese as an extra subject for Leaving Certificate
  • Students who are academically capable of taking on an extra subject and have the time to do Japanese homework and study in addition to their other studies
  • Students who are willing to commit to attending class EVERY Saturday for three hours
  • Students who are willing to complete the course which begins in September 2017 and finishes end of May 2019
  • Applications are only open to students who are entering 5th year in September 2017, and sitting the Leaving Cert in June 2019.

Dublin School, Cork city centre school

Time:   

10.00-1.00 pm on Saturdays

There are no charges (outside of small fee of 50 euro for textbooks and photocopying) for these classes which are being run by the Post-Primary Languages Initiative, an agency of the Department of Education and Skills.  Part of the remit of the Post-Primary Languages Initiative is to diversify the provision of foreign languages at post-primary level and to support all students in their learning of foreign languages.
